Guide
Stamp page numbers on a PDF
Add a visible page number overlay when a print pack or binder needs numbers that the original export skipped.
How to add page numbers
Many scans and photo-to-PDF files have no folio. This tool draws numbers so a printed stack can be collated. It does not rewrite a table of contents.
If you already reordered pages with Organize PDF, add numbers after the order is final, or the digits will not match the new sequence.
Numbering is local. We do not store the booklet.
- Open Add Page Numbers and add the PDF.
- Choose position and style options shown on the tool.
- Click Add page numbers. Each page receives a number overlay.
- Download and check the first, middle, and last page. Printed numbers already in the artwork will still be there; this adds another layer.
Page numbering
Cover pages that should stay unnumbered are easier if you split the cover, number the rest, then merge.
- Overlays a number on each page.
- Position and style follow the on-page options.
- Does not delete numbers that were already drawn in the file.
- Best applied after merge, split, and reorder.
- Browser-only processing.
Privacy
The PDF is numbered on your device. Adding a number does not encrypt the file; use Protect PDF if you need a password.
