Compare two PDFs and highlight differences

Load an original and a modified file to see page areas that changed, drawn in red, without sending either file to a review server.

How to compare two PDFs

Version checks on visual PDFs (stamped forms, scans, exported drawings) are hard to do by eye. This comparison looks at page rendering and highlights where pixels diverge, similar in spirit to a visual diff, not a tracked-changes balloon in Word.

Tiny font hinting or compression can flag a false positive. Zoom the highlight before you assume a clause changed.

Both files stay in the browser. We do not host a deal room.

  1. Open Compare PDF. Add the original in the first panel and the modified file in the second.
  2. Click Compare. The tool renders pages and marks regions that differ.
  3. Step through pages. Red highlighting calls out change areas; it is not a legal redline of every character.
  4. If you need a word-level contract redline, use Word’s compare on DOCX files instead of page images.

Visual compare

For text-only edits in Word, convert is the wrong first step: compare the DOCX sources. Use this when the artifacts you have are PDFs.

  • Two-file upload: original and modified.
  • Highlights changed regions in red.
  • Page-by-page review, not a clause-level legal redline.
  • Can flag harmless rendering noise.
  • No server-side document locker.

Privacy when you compare

Both versions are read locally. A visual diff can still reveal confidential edits on your screen; use a private device.

Frequently asked questions

No. You get a visual highlight on pages, not an exported list of sentences.
