Guide
Add a text overlay on a PDF page
Stamp a line of text on a chosen page when you need a label, not a full desktop layout program.
How to add text to a PDF
Use this for “COPY”, a date, or a short note on a specific page. It is not InDesign. You are not clicking to reflow paragraphs inside existing articles.
If you need to black out words, Redact PDF is the right tool. If you need a mark on every page, Watermark PDF is faster than repeating edits.
The overlay is written in the browser. We do not host an editing session.
- Open Edit PDF and add the PDF.
- Type the text and choose the page it should appear on.
- Click Apply text edit. The string is drawn as an overlay on that page.
- Download and confirm the position. This is a simple overlay, not a flowing text box editor.
What Edit PDF covers
For signatures, use Sign PDF so you can type a name or place an image instead of a generic text stamp.
- Adds a text overlay on a selected page.
- Does not reflow existing PDF text like a word processor.
- Pairs with watermark, page numbers, and redact for other jobs.
- No account required.
- Local processing.
Privacy when you edit
Overlays do not remove the original text underneath. Anyone can still select hidden words unless you redact.
See the Privacy Policy.
Frequently asked questions
No. This tool adds new text. It does not provide a caret inside the original layout.
Use the options shown on the page. It is a practical stamp, not a design suite.
The overlay is real PDF text, so it can be selected unless a later flatten happens in another app.
