Guide
Save a PDF as PDF/A-style archival output
Write a PDF with standardized archival metadata when a records process asks for PDF/A, within what a browser rewrite can do.
How to convert to PDF/A
Archives ask for PDF/A so files remain readable for decades. Full PDF/A conformance includes font embedding rules and forbidden features. This tool produces an archival-oriented rewrite with standardized metadata, which helps some workflows but is not a certified preflight.
If a national archive rejects the file, you will need a desktop preflight product. We say that plainly so you do not fail a deadline.
The rewrite is local. We do not run a validation farm.
- Open PDF to PDF/A and add the source PDF.
- Click Convert to PDF/A. The file is rewritten with archival metadata fields the converter sets.
- Download and, if a repository requires a specific PDF/A level (1b, 2b, 3b), validate with their checker. A browser rewrite may not satisfy every clause.
- Fix fonts and transparency in a dedicated PDF/A tool if their validator fails.
Archival conversion
For court or government filing, read their spec. If they name veraPDF, run veraPDF on the download.
- Rewrites the PDF with archival metadata.
- Not a full ISO PDF/A preflight for every level.
- Useful as a first step before an official validator.
- No server-side conversion.
- Original file stays on your disk.
Privacy for archival files
Records still contain personal data. Processing is local; retention of the download is your records policy, not ours.

Frequently asked questions
It is a metadata-oriented archival rewrite, not a guarantee of a named ISO profile. Validate if a body requires a profile.
Do not assume embedded XML invoices survive. Check the output.
Font embedding depends on what is already in the file and what the library can write. Failed validators usually point at fonts or transparency.
