Guide
Stamp a text watermark across PDF pages
Mark drafts as confidential or sample copies with a repeated overlay before you send the file.
How to watermark a PDF
Watermarks are a social signal: they do not encrypt the file. Anyone can still copy text unless you also protect or flatten elsewhere. Use them for draft status, not as a security boundary.
Apply watermarks after merge and rotate so every page shares the same orientation. Encrypt afterward with Protect PDF if the packet should be locked.
Stamping is local. We do not keep the draft.
- Open Watermark PDF and add the file.
- Enter the watermark wording, such as DRAFT or the date.
- Apply the watermark and download the result.
- Open several pages. If the mark hides important figures, use a lighter wording or crop; this tool is a stamp, not a design layout.
Watermark behavior
To hide a previous mark that is real page content, crop, redact, or go back to the source file. Overlaying a second mark on top is messy.
- Repeats your text as an overlay on pages.
- Does not replace password protection.
- Does not remove an existing watermark that is part of the artwork.
- Not a copyright registration system.
- Runs in the browser.
Privacy and watermarks
A watermark is visible content you add. It is not redaction. The file still contains the original words.
See the Privacy Policy.
